Bankruptcy Myth #12 - Can I Choose Which Debt and Assets To Include On My Bankruptcy?

Bankruptcy Myths - You Can Pick & Choose Which Debts and Assets to Include In Your Bankruptcy. DEFINITELY NOT TRUE. http://www.restartyourlifejax.com One of the things that will get you into trouble quick, is the bankruptcy court requires that you list ALL your debts. Even if you owe your uncle $50, you have to list it on the schedule of debts for your Bankruptcy. If you have a credit card with a zero balance, you don't have to list it.

On the assets side, you definitely have to list all your assets. You can't take a boat and put it into your uncle's name and then say "I didn't own a boat on the day I filed bankruptcy". Doing so will cause the bankruptcy court to turn against you, and you will go from the honest but unfortunate debtor, to someone who is going to be under criminal investigation.
